Women Leading Health Awareness in Kassala

At Relief Care Alliance (RCA), we recognize that empowering women is not only a goal — it’s a powerful tool for sustainable change. In Kassala, this vision came to life through a hygiene awareness initiative that put women at the center of community health education.
At the Agricultural Research Center Shelter, women gathered for a session that provided vital information on personal hygiene, health practices, and disease prevention. Many of them, displaced from their homes and facing difficult conditions, welcomed the opportunity to learn, share, and lead.
“We were taught how to care for ourselves and our children in ways we didn’t know before. I now feel responsible and confident to help others in my shelter,”
— Amina, participant and mother of four
These awareness activities do more than just teach—they build trust, inspire leadership, and strengthen the collective resilience of families. When women are equipped with knowledge, the effects ripple outwards, improving the well-being of entire communities.
“I didn’t think hygiene could be such a powerful tool. Now I understand how much it matters for our health and dignity,”
— Fatima, young volunteer and workshop attendee
This initiative is part of RCA’s broader commitment to empowering women through targeted, practical education. In a society where women often serve as primary caregivers, giving them the tools and knowledge to lead in health matters is essential to building a safer, healthier Sudan.
These voices remind us that when women rise, communities rise with them.
