At Relief Care Alliance (RCA), Protection Services form a cornerstone of our humanitarian response, dedicated to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and well-being of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable individuals affected by crisis, conflict, or displacement.
RCA’s Protection Services are designed to address the immediate and long-term needs of those at risk, with a particular focus on child protection, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, and psychosocial support. We work within a rights-based framework that places individuals and communities at the center of our programming, ensuring they have access to safety, dignity, and justice.
Key Areas of Focus
1. Child Protection
RCA is committed to creating an environment where every child is safe, nurtured, and protected. Our child protection activities include the identification and referral of at-risk children, family reunification services, and the establishment of child-friendly spaces where children can learn, play, and receive emotional support in a safe and inclusive environment. We also work with local partners and communities to raise awareness on children’s rights and build protective environments that prevent abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
2. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response
RCA provides comprehensive services to prevent and respond to GBV, particularly among women, girls, and other at-risk groups. Our approach includes community-based awareness campaigns, case management, access to safe shelters, and legal and medical referrals. GBV survivors are offered survivor-centered services, respecting their confidentiality, informed consent, and safety at all times. RCA also invests in training frontline staff and partners on GBV prevention and survivor care to ensure a coordinated and sensitive response.
3. Psychosocial Support
Recognizing the trauma and emotional distress caused by displacement and conflict, RCA provides targeted psychosocial support services. These include one-on-one counseling, group therapy sessions, and the integration of mental health support into existing community services. Psychosocial support is also embedded in all our child and GBV protection interventions, fostering resilience and recovery across affected populations.
Safe Spaces for Vulnerable Groups
In all our areas of operation, RCA establishes and maintains safe spaces that provide physical and emotional safety for women, children, and persons with disabilities. These spaces are designed to offer a secure environment where individuals can access essential services, receive support, and build community networks. Activities in these spaces are tailored to the specific needs of each group, promoting healing, empowerment, and inclusion.
Commitment to Accountability and Dignity
All of RCA’s Protection Services are grounded in humanitarian principles and international protection standards. We ensure that beneficiaries are treated with dignity and respect, and we prioritize community engagement in designing and delivering our protection interventions. Feedback and complaint mechanisms are actively promoted to strengthen accountability and trust between RCA and the communities we serve.
Through our holistic and survivor-centered protection framework, RCA remains steadfast in its mission to protect the most vulnerable and support their journey toward safety, recovery, and hope.
